Questions:
1.
Brooks is using the genre of the advice column in his OpEd piece. What is the effect of this strategy? In other words, his “essay” is not your usual opinion piece where the writer makes a claim and backs it up with evidence or is it? Does his choice of “high falutin” language –e.g., meme, febrile acolytes, cultural omnivores, etc. add or distract from his argument. Explain.
2.
What do you think about Brooks' claim that “media replaced culture” at the advent of the iPhone in June of 2007? Is there a cultural divide between you and the author (Brooks) that confirms the fact that you are not a part of his audience for this essay? Why should you care about what he says?

3.
Do you think that your age or generation has influenced your agreement or disagreement with Brooks' commentary? (S.Shepherd)
